The Reawakening

I think this site is in need of a revamp.. So watch out for that! Over the last couple months, I’ve taken some serious time away from blogging. It’s been refreshing. It’s been thoughtful. More than anything else though, I’ve been reawakened. There are a couple realizations that I’ve had… It’s ok to say no. Colleges measure their success on their rejection rates right? Harvard rejects some 86% percent of all applicants. Yale follows suit. What does it say about someone if they continually say yes to projects and ideas that aren’t grounded in their own mission or the mission of their company? There’s considerable opportunity cost there… Especially if their is considerable time committment! Removing yourself as the bottleneck As an entrepreneur or business owner, you know that there’s a pretty significant syndrome that accompanies your thoughts. That’s ADD. Every time we turn around, there’s a new idea or a new ‘shiny object’ that catches your attention. So you play with it for a while. Maybe you even master it. But do you actually put it to use? Probably not. It’s time to get very real with yourself. Are you a bottleneck? Are you preventing your own success? I was. And once I realized it I started using tools and software to organize a lot of things that I was thinking.. Time management I am a pretty strong believer in time management. And I’m not talking about the soft, cushy time management that people teach in self help books. I’m talking about effectively getting things done. The secret lies in productivity and action steps. If you identify an area or a niche that you want to get into, answer one question… “What’s the next step?” Answer that and you’ll be infinitely closer to achieving your goals. The end product So, I’m going to start blogging more. After four years of solid writing on different sites, I’ve talked about most of the things I’ve wanted to. And it’s difficult to rehash old topics. Well, it’s time to revisit some of them. I’ve grown a lot over the last year and it’s time to pick up the pen again.. Figuratively speaking of course :0)
